Wiltshire female entrepreneur helping other women find work/life fulfilment

A female entrepreneur, who took voluntary redundancy from the National Trust during the pandemic has now launched her own business and is offering workshops and programmes for women wishing to achieve more balance and fulfilment in their lives too.

Katy Smith of Katy Smith Coaching

Katy Smith, who has lived in Bradford-on-Avon for ten years with her husband and two young sons, started Katy Smith Coaching in September 2021. “When Covid hit in 2020, I took voluntary redundancy and then studied for 11 months to obtain qualifications in coaching.”

Having qualified with a distinction as an ICF accredited Personal Performance and Career Coach and accredited Personality Profiler, Katy realises that she could help other mums. She said: “After attending a free workshop with the Coaching Academy, I instinctively knew I could offer other women help and guidance on what they want to do after parental leave or redundancy.”

Katy explained that she struggled during the major turning points in her life and found little support out there. She has now set up her own business to share her experiences and what she has learned about acquiring the optimum work/family life balance within the structure of coaching.

Now Katy is offering a special six week group programme for women called Re-ignite, which is to be launched in February. “The course would be especially good for mums aged 35-50 who are on a career break of any timescale or for whatever reason,” said Katy. “Re-ignite serves to help women who are seeking balance in life and a role that lights them up, but also fits in with their family life. I also help women who may have gone back to a low-paid job, but need to build their confidence as they know they have more to offer and want more life and work fulfilment.”

The aim of the Re-ignite course is to help as many women as possible that are currently in a situation where they are not sure what they should do next or how to move forward to find that next fulfilling role in life, but also fits around their family life.

As well as the Re-ignite course, Katy is also hosting a new three-hour in-person workshop – a Vision Board workshop – the first one of which takes place on Sunday January 16 and is being held to help women focus on their vision and dreams for the coming year.

Katy is also offering one-to-one coaching sessions particularly for mums, who really struggle to find time for themselves. “It’s my intention to run Retreats in the future to focus wholly on mums and their wellbeing, career intentions and also quality family time,” explained Katy.

“As well as supporting mums on a career break or through redundancy, I also work with mums-in-business, as I understand that running your own business can be all-consuming at times. I, therefore, offer a Re-balance taster coaching experience – this is a great way to experience coaching and what it’s like to work with me. This taster is open to any mum wanting to make changes in her life.”

The Re-balance taster experience and one-to-one coaching can be in person and include a walk and talk format. Coaching sessions can be flexible around school hours and some evening. The Re-ignite group coaching programme is being offered at a low introductory cost.
