Looking for a new inventor in lockdown

Cirencester businessman and entrepreneur, Nigel Chute, has been involved with a multi-award winning product, which he believes could protect you and your family from nuisance calls. trueCall is the brainchild of inventors, John Price and Steve Smith, and has shown in trials that it can block over 95% of nuisance and cold calls.

Nigel, who owns Chute Design and has been developing, protecting and exploiting new product opportunities for over 30 years, said: “I carried out the industrial design and 3D CAD modelling for this product that featured on BBC TV’s Dragons’ Den and it won investment from Dragon, Peter Jones. It has even won the Queen’s Award for Enterprise.”

“This is just one of many inventions and designs that I have been involved with over the years,” said Nigel. “And it occurred to me that, after having endured three lots of Lockdown, there must be many new designers and inventors out there that have created new, innovative products, but don’t know what to do next, how to produce them or offer them to the commercial market.”

During the first lockdown of 2020, Nigel collaborated with four other local business people on The Cotswold Challenge venture that aspired to help 15-19 year old students who had missed out on their GCSEs or A-Levels. Nigel said: “The Cotswold Challenge was a huge success especially in the Innovation & Entrepreneurial Thinking category where some of the ideas and creations by these youngsters were simply outstanding! I have been helping some of the talented students expand their ideas and develop them as a lucrative business.”

In order to help other inspired creators, Nigel is planning ‘An Inventor’s Response to Covid”. His offer would include guiding the inventors to access specialists in key areas such as sales, producing prototypes, copyright protection, licensing rules and regulations, funding, publicity and marketing.

Nigel would like to offer any prospective inventor a free mini-consultation with him via phone or Zoom to explore the feasibility and viability of their brainwave. “Seriously, there must be some great ideas out there,” said Nigel. “And I would love to hear about them.”

If you have got an invention, gadget, idea, creation or prototype that you would like to chat to Nigel about, please call him on 01285 239016 or email nigel@chutedesign.com.
